Not sure why all the bad reviews

I purchased this item and initially I was skeptical because of all of the poor reviews. But I figured I would give it a try as it was so cheap. When I was prepared for the worst, but what I received was a good product that installed easily. The installation hardware was not the best, but it was good enough. We are holding up a single bike here, so we don't need grade 8 airplane quality bolts. The instructions were straight forward and with in about 15 minutes I had my 10 year old trek bike hanging on the ceiling. As others have mentioned the brackets that secure the bike to the hoist are not what is pictured in this page. However, what was included worked just fine and it would take a major earthquake or structural damage to my house for the bike to fall. If I were to ever become concerned with the mounting brackets, the fix would be as simple as a piece of cord wrapped around the seat and handle bars.

With this mount I was able to reclaim that space in my garage, and because of that, this product was well worth the little money I paid for it.

Less Here than Meets the Eye

You are not going to mount your bicycles with what comes in the package. The manufacturer neglects to tell you that the lifting device is not designed to be mounted on the ceiling and the picture on the web is deceptive. It is designed to be mounted on a 2X4 that is then attached to the ceiling. The 2X4 is not in the box, the bolts to attach the 2X4 to the ceiling are not in the box.

If you decide to forego buying the wood and simply attach the pulleys to the joists in the ceiling you are still going to have to go to the hardware store because the screws included in the box are way too short to reach the joists through the sheetrock on the ceiling and the heads are too small to securely hold the pulley platform.

So keep in mind that regardless of how you finally decide to mount your bicycles, you are not going to do it without a trip to the hardware store.

After I got the longer screws (I had no desire to go to the extra steps with the 2X4s) the device mounts easily and the bicycle rises majestically to the ceiling. The front hook fits securely on the handlebars, but the rear hook can have problems with some of the seats that split in the rear.

Great Concept, Poor Execution

Great idea but unfortunately did not work. Lifted the bike ok but the clamps that attached to the seat and handle bars could easily slip off. Based on that I was not prepared to trust my $2500 road bike and nearby car to it. I stuck with good old stable ceiling hooks and hang my bikes upside down. On the positive note, return was excepted no problem for a full refund by DTX International Inc.

Works great, need tall garage ceiling

Need tall ceilings to hang the bike up high enough. Works great, except I have to duck when I cross my garage. Still I have a lot of extra space now that the bikes are up and out of the way. Just bought a third bike hoist. Now I need to find a spot to install it where I won't hit my head.

Just what I needed!!

You cannot beat this price if your trying to find a sturdy nice size storage shelf. It just arrived the other day and I put it together in less than 15 minutes. It probably would have been quicker if my 3 yr old didnt want to help! Im about 7 months pregnant and have been trying to get EVERYTHING in the whole house organized and this put my mind at ease for the laundry room clutter. I know its just a simple shelf but it makes me feel so much better walking into that room. It is very simple to put together. I did use a hammer (with some padding in between so i didnt make direct contact with the plastic) to get the "poles" into place better as well as a level just to double check. I definitly recommend this shelf!!! Oh and if you order stuff as much as I do online....get amazon prime!! Its so worth it especially because everything comes in 2 days or sometimes less! Just a thought!

Lets see:

- They're cheap
- They're big
- 5 shelves
- Pretty strong
- Still light enough to move around
- Assembly is stupid easy and takes less than five minutes
- They're level and pretty stable with or without weight
- If you need to take them apart, they even have holes to store the poles.

For ~$30, you simply can't find a better deal than these shelves.

Fantastic Customer Service!

When the shelves arrived, the package was one shelf short. I contacted customer service by email (address was very conspicuous and easy to locate) and received a response within 10 minutes! The missing shelf arrived within 5 days. They really put the service in customer service. Nice job Sterilite!

As others have noted, the shelves are quite sturdy and well made. If I ever need additional shelves, these will be the ones I order.

These hangers are great, they do make the clothes bulk out at the bottom of the hanger but its not an issue for me. they shipped quickly, they are good quality and are a great price. I will definately buy more

Very Sturdy

This product was great. It is very sturdy, so it can handle weight for bulkier items like coats, suits, and heavy sweaters. It is a bit rough around the edges, so wouldn't recomment for dainty items. Also, only recommended for strong, sturdy closet rods, since all the weight centered on the rod will cause weak rods to bow or break. I bought a set of magic hangers (NOT wonder hangers) for blouses, skirts, light sweaters and the like, and I really like them as well. Both products together made a night-and-day difference in the small closets of my old house.

There is a "plastic" version which this one easily out does. Its made of solid stainless steal & holds one extra hanger then the generic plastic models. Makes for a very good space saver and I liked it so much I bought 5 more (6 total) sets. Each set comes with 2 so you're getting double your money's worth.

Life Changing

I share a closet and hese hangers maximize all hanging space in the closet.

1) They look great and are very sturdy
2) The can hold thick plastic hangers or those skinny dry cleaning ones
3) The metal looks great in the closet
4) The shirts do not hang too low from the bar. There is enough room to place things on the floor of my closest

Disappointed.

I was really looking forward to this item, as I have small closets and need the space. The metal hooks that are supposed to hang on the closet rod are too small and don't fit on the rod. Which is a shame, because other than that they are sturdy and hold a lot of weight, but what good is that if I can't use them? I didn't notice this before I ordered, but if you look at the picture, it shows the metal hook hanging on a tiny rod. If you have a normal sized dowel in your closet, this will not work.

Purchased 3 of the shelving units. One for the Kitchen and 2 for garage. Beautiful! Easy to put together, tho, you do need the suggested rubber mallet, or at least a hammer with rag to cushion.
Quite happy with them! Would purchase more if I had room for more!

Great Shelving System

This is a sturdy, reasonably priced shelving system that is useful in many situations. Most important, however, is that it is very easy to assemble. Almost no tools required. I would highly recommend this product.

This is an excellent shelf. It went together very easy and does what it says. I have it loaded up with can goods and dog food in the pantry and it is very sturdy. I would recommend for anyone. Plus the wheel work great. I have to move it side to side to grab things and it moves very easy!

Shelving unit can be used for the garden too.

I am disabled and love to garden. When I plant seeds in the seed flats I need to do it in the garage and then take them outside in the daytime and back in at night...The Seville Classic SHE18370B will hold 17 flats of seeds and I can easily wheel it out and in as needed. I LOVE it and could not plant my own seeds rather than using bought plants without it.
It was very easy to assemble (by two senior citizen women) and is very, very sturdy and strong. It could be used in the home, in a business or as I do for gardening!

Solid bike stand for 2 bicycles

When initially received, there was a hole drilled incorrectly. In the box is a letter from Racor asking to contact them if there are problems before returning the item. Racor sent me a new stand quickly free of charge because a whole new stand wold arrive faster than a single part. The stand is not heavy, but weighs enough that it keeps two bikes sturdy. It holds the front and rear tires well. I think it is a bit too narrow to put both bikes in handlebar first as the inside grips hit, twisting the wheel a bit. One of the bikes has fairly large disk brakes and they come very close to rubbing on the bar support as does the rear sprockets when parked rear tire first, but they don't seem to get damaged.

All in all it is a great stand for the money.

Light and Practical

We needed a little more room and a better organized garage, so we ordered this bike stand, It was easy to assemble, and our two bicycles fit in it perfectly. The quality was also very good. We strongly recommend this stand.

Excellent Value

After reading about some of the quality control issues (parts not threaded properly, bolts,nuts and screws scattered all over the box) I was a little hesitant about making this purchase. I did buy it and I'm glad I did. All the parts came wrapped in plastic and the fasteners were in their own sealed bag. Installation took about 15 minutes. All the parts fit well and it lies flat on the ground.
I store two adult hybrid bikes. Because the handlebars are about the same height I had to place the rear wheel of one of the bikes in the stand - but they are still side by side (I don't have the space to store them end to end. All in all, I'm very pleased with the product.

Works as advertised. Takes a little patience to put together. But once it is it works as advertised. And the price reflects that. I would expect more if it cost more so it is what it is.
