Editorial Review :

Powerful and effective, the Toro Ultra 3-in-1 Blower, Vacuum, and Leaf Shredder makes completing yard work fun and easy. With air speeds up to 235 mph, this electric blower nevertheless is lighter, quieter, and cleaner than similar gas blowers. And with a sleek, ergonomical design, it's a tool that is easy to use and will grab your neighbors' attention.

The Toro Ultra 3-in-1 Blower, Vacuum, and Leaf Shredder:
  • Is electric so it is lighter, quieter, and cleaner than similar gas blower.
  • Has a variable speed motor.
  • Features a metal impeller for mulching debris.

Convert from blower to vacuum without tools.

The metal impeller shreds leaves into a mulch.

The impeller can reduce up to 16 bags' worth of waste to one bag.
Match the Power to the Task for Better Results
Tackle big clean-up jobs the right way with this powerful blower vac. A variable speed 12 Amp motor lets you select from an infinite variety of speeds between 112 mph and 235 mph. This means that you can use low speeds to clear off hard surfaces and clean up tight areas without making a mess and without sacrificing the blower's high-speed functionality.

Air Speed and Air Volume to Get Yard Jobs Done
Unlike some manufacturers, who simply reduce the size of their blower nozzles to achieve higher air speed ratings without increasing the practical value of their tools, Toro gives this blower vac the ability to balance between air speed (measured in mph) and air volume (measured in cfm) to ensure maximum power and performance. This Ultra blower vac offers air speeds up to 235 mph and air volume up to 255 cfm, allowing you to move a substantial volume of leaves and debris with ease.

3-in-1 Versatility Makes Managing Tasks Easy
A convenient quick-release latch lets you convert your blower into a vacuum in seconds without any tools, while a metal impeller makes it easy to mulch debris.

The magnesium serrated metal blades on the impeller shred leaves and other unwanted debris into a fine mulch that you can use around your lawn and garden, saving money and recycling important nutrients. It also makes it easy to dispose of unwanted yard waste, since the impeller can reduce 16 bags’ worth of leaves to one bag.

Clean and Efficient with Electric Power
Compared with gas blowers, electric blowers are quieter, more eco-friendly, and require less maintenance. They start up instantly without requiring you to master a finicky pull cord. There's no messy gas-oil mixture to worry about, and you don't have to contend with noxious fumes to get a job done.

This high-powered blower also weighs in at a very manageable 7.5 pounds, making it easy on your back.

This blower/vac is backed by a full two-year warranty.

What's in the Box
Power unit, blower tubes, vac tubes, vac bag, and operators manual.

Even a large yard is easy to clean up with this blower.

Customer Review :

Excellent Blower, vacuum not so good ,,,

Excellent blower ... Vacuuming up leaves, not so good ?????? One thing I dislike about the vacuum portion is there is a LOT of dust that comes out of the collector bag when vacuuming (not good) ... Blower good ...
Vacuuming not so good ... With that in mind, I would recommend this product for its blower qualities ...

worth every penny

This leaf blower is amazing. Super powerful, easy to use, very easy to put together and surprisingly, not obnoxiously loud. If you want to blow your leaves and trash into the neighbors yard, this is what you need. If not, you still need this machine if leaves drive you crazy. I have cottonwood trees that shed leaves every single day and I was sick & tired of raking and picking them up. After reading the reviews on this leaf blower, I ordered it from Amazon, got it very quickly and am extremely happy I did. Unless someone cuts down these annoying trees of mine, I will always have to deal with leaves and this amazing machine makes my life a little easier. Worth every penny.

It worked the first time

The first time I used this Toro electric blower it worked great although is nosier at higher speeds than expected. A week later when I tried to use it again nothing happened. When I called Toro they were very pleasant, and said they suspected a safety switch of some sort had stuck and if I shipped it back they would send me a new one in a few weeks. They do not pay for shipping so I am $22 poorer and back to using my B&D cordless while I wait for a replacement. Not a good intro to my first Toro.

Works well, very powerful

Works well, seems to be pretty powerful. Not sure if the vacuum part is too great, it does tend to clog, but I have nothing to compare it to.

REVIEW TORO 51599 BLOWER/VACUUM

I HAVE TWO MATURE DECIDUOUS TREES IN MY BACKYARD, HERE IN PHOENIX WE GET A NUMBER OF MONSOON STORMS WITH VERY STRONG WIND GUSTS, I DONT LIKE BLOWERS THEY JUST MOVE STUF AROUND IN MY OPINION AND CAN POLUTE THE AIR WITH DUST AND DEBRIS, SO I PURCHASED THIS TORO MACHINE FOR THE VACUUM. I HAVE USED IT 3 TIMES SO FAR, IT WORKS WELL, I AM SATISFIED, I THOUGHT THE PRICE WAS GOOD FOR WHAT YOU GET, THE QUALITY IS THERE. I USE IT MOSTLY FOR CONCRETE WALKWAYS AND DRIVEWAY, I REALY LIKE THE VARIABLE SPEED CONTROL WICH IS CONVENIENTLY PLACED, THE VACUUM IS POWERFUL AND I HAD NO TROUBLE CLEANING UP ALL THE LEAVES QUICKLY.
YES YOU DO HAVE TO MANIPULATE THE CORD, I FOUND THE BEST WAY IS TO WORK AWAY FROM THE OUTLET. EMPTYING THE BAG WAS EASY, I LIKE HOW THE IMPELER CHOPPED UP THE LEAVES, I USE THEM AS MULCH AROUND MY PLANTS.
MY ONLY GRIPE IS THE BAG WOULD BE EASIER TO WORK WITH IF IT WAS STRAPPED TO THE BACK LIKE A BACK PACK, TORO COULD EASILY MAKE A FLEXIBLE TUBE TO CONECT TO THE MACHINE. OVERALL I WOULD BUY THIS ITEM AGAIN. MJS.Toro 51599 Ultra 12 amp Variable-Speed Electric Blower/Vacuum with Metal Impeller

Ok, but not great

It's rated for 130 watt continous, but it's probably closer to 100watt. Used it for my laptop with a 120 watt draw. Worked fine for about 3 days, then overloaded. has to switch to my ac plug from my old laptop rated @ 90watt. It works but the laptop doesn't recharge as fast. The fan on the inverter works great, keeps unit cool even on 90+ degree days

Haven't used long, but so far works great, beautiful design.

Assuming it holds up, this is just what I needed, in a smaller, sleeker design than expected. I use it for a moist heat blanket for physical therapy. Very convenient.

Problem with inverter power cord

This inverter worked well for 18 months to power a 16" TV from our car cigarette lighter.
I measured the AC load on the inverter at only 20 watts, so I expected good inverter reliability.
This week, when the 30Amp fuse in the car that protects the cigarette lighter blew, I suspected
the inverter was shorted. After troubleshooting the problem I discovered the inverter was OK!
The short was in the 2-pin connector that plugs into the inverter. After cutting away part
of the rubber connector, I saw that the insulation on the wires had pulled slightly away
from the pins *inside* the moulded rubber connector allowing the stranded wires to touch.
There was very little clearance between the wires at that point and no insulating barrier.
I was able to repair the connector and used epoxy to keep the wires from touching.
Everything works again! I'm writing this review to alert others to this problem, so that they
won't assume the inverter shorted and failed. The problem is easily repairable.

It works

So far I've only used it to charge my cell phone on a long trip, and it has worked great for that. The only thing I've noticed is that it will sometimes make a low volume but high pitched squealing sound for a very short time when first turning it on. It goes away after a minute so it really isn't an issue.

Mr. Inverter

Needed an inverter for a 25 day road trip, this powered and charged many of my devices including a MacBook Pro, mobile phones, powered USB hubs (to charge USB devices) and camera batteries. I was impressed it charged my laptop while I was using it since I had a previous inverter that, when I plugged in an (old) laptop with battery, something happened with the battery and it wouldn't charge. Anyway, great product. 175 watts (or as someone said, 130 watts or so through DC) is enough for your typical electronic devices, just check your watts before buying.

Super Trimmer

Who could ask for anything more? Great battery life, powerful cutting power - with 2 batteries, to boot! This trimmer does a fine job. And the batteries can be used in other Black & Decker 18 volt cordless devices.

Rating :

Light weight but does the job super well

I love my new trimmer - the battery goes and goes and does a superlative job. I have a torn rotator cuff and can't lift heavy products. I just love this, not to heavy and does a really good job of trimming. Excellent item, no bumping for the cord to come out. Buy one, you won't be sorry.

Rating :

Surprised...and Pleased

I have owned a number of different gas powered trimmers and they all were more powerful than this B&D electric trimmer, so as many other reviewers have stated, if you are doing a big area, or using a trimmer a lot, perhaps this is not the right choice for you.
I was on the fence about it myself, but when my last gas unit konked out, decided to give it a shot and I'm happy I did. My property is about 1 acre and there is a good bit of trim work to do, but I've had no trouble finishing the job, usually on one battery. A couple of times, when cutting through heavier growth, I did have to switch batteries and it's nice to have the other ready to go just in case.
Other reviewers thought the batteries didn't last very long...maybe 15 minutes of running time. I was very careful to follow the instructions when charging them initially and have found I regularly get more than 20 minutes per battery pack. This unit uses a single filament cutting line which does a decent job if you take your time, but it only does a relatively narrow swath, so trimming tends to take a little longer.
Not playing with gas and oil or the stink of 2 cycle exhaust or fussy hard to start gas trimmers is a pleasure. Now I just pick up the Grass Hog when I need to trim something and squeeze the trigger...works every time with no fuss. The batteries are a little heavy and unit seems a bit heavy/unwieldy to me so it's just as well the battery life limits how long you can use it. There's no support strap to take weight off your arms/shoulders.
Overall, I'm very happy so far with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone in the market for a cordless electric trimmer.

B&D Grass Hog

Works great for a battery operated tool. It has more power than I expected it to have. I also was VERY PLEASED that it came with 2 batteries!
I'd buy this item again in a heartbeat and have already recommended it to others.

I guess for 99 bucks you can't expect too much.
The trimmer does a good job of trimming, and batteries aren't too bad. The plastic guard leaves a lot to be desired. It comes in 2 pieces you have to assemble and install on the machine. When using it for the first time the guard flew apart and stipped the screw holes. I used Gorilla glue to put it back together. Hope it holds!
Good job BD?!

Black & Decker Electric Weed Trimmer

Replaced an electric Toro trimmer that lasted 20 years. Motor is not as powerful but adequate. Heavier than previous trimmer but light compared to most electric trimmers available today. Bump feed works adequately, although there is sometimes a delay in the feed (must run full speed for several seconds after bump feed before line advances). Plastic case seems fairly rugged. Overall seems decent so far for the price, which was cheap.

Perfect

Unbeatable Price, effective tool

This tool works very well. And at this price, it is a no brainer. I use this on my St. Augustine grass and it cuts it close. I love the bump feature to release more string. It is also very light and quiet.

Just buy an appropriate extension cord and you are good to go. Nothing to charge and it does not use gas, so it does no pollute.

Good for the price

For $20 you can't go wrong. Doesn't work well for deep edging, but for light trimming and edging its good for the price

Works Great

I have practically cut my whole yard this handy little Grass Trimmer. I have used practically no string, and it is an amazing tool for the price and performance I have had. This is the perfect weed wacker for the smaller yard, or for someone who is physically challenged in anyway. Light weight, does what it says, inexpensive, what more could you want?

Frigidaire FAD704TDP 70-Pint Dehumidifier, White

The prices were better than any local or web prices I found. Installation was easy. Performance has been great. It cleared out the basement mustiness in one day.

Recommend that you buy the installation package offered with the pump.

16 years and never missed a beat

I bought this pump in 1994 to get rid of condensate from a new Carrier Infinity ultra-high efficiency (96%) furnace and the whole house A/C installed with the furnace. I must admit, I probably have only cleaned this unit twice in all those years and it still pumps with unbelieveable reliability. Our situation is fairly demanding, it pumps up 7 feet and across the basement ceiling for 45 feet to drain in a laundry tub. I'm using 1/2" PVC tubing and it has always worked flawlessly. How can you go wrong with such a reliable unit, plus it's very quiet, not that I care all that much in my basement! This pump is a winner! Sure beats the other option the contractor offered: drilling a hole in the basement floor and running all that water under the slab! Had I done that, I'm sure our already damp basement would be even mustier. It already costs me about $75 a month during the summer to run two dehumidifiers full time.

I purchased this pump to remove the condensation from my dehumidifier in my basement. It works great. I never have to worry about emptying the dehumidifier bucket. The pump has no problem pumping water up to the basement sink from the floor, (about 3 feet).

Questions & Answers
Question : the light on my craftsman 1/2 hp garage door opener is blinking/flashing?
not the LED, but the light (bulb); it's flashing/blinking like it doesn't have enough electricity, is that common? it didn't do it til few days ago when we used the outdoor plug for some power tool....what is wrong?thanks a bunch!

Answer:
If it is blinking in a timed and controlled way it's a photo eye problem. It will just blink steadily off and on for about 5 blinks or so.If it's not that then the problem is probably in the bulb or the light socket. Change the bulb and if that doesn't work unplug the opener(being careful on a safe ladder of course!) and using a screw driver(make sure you didn't skip the unplug step!) and pry the little metal tab on the bottom out a bit so it makes better contact with the light bulb!Hope that helped!

Question : Stepping down from 220 to 110v?
I have an unused outlet in my laundry room that I want to attach a semi permanent outdoor circuit to. I want to build a circuit outside for lighting in my trees power tools a radio and sometimes my 220 volt welder. Oh and I also want to just plug it into the existing 220v circuit without changing anything to that circuit. Any hints?Great ideas!I especially like The one about the sub- panel. I was planning on using this really thick gauge 4 wire 22o that had been used on a 400' well pump. I know I will actually have to check its guage to make sure but this stuff is really thick. The 110v circuit would just run low watt outdoor lighting on paths and whatnot with no more than the one power tool I can hold at a time. Maybe a radio but thats really small stuff. I was figuring a 20 amp would be sufficient for that. My welder I know can draw 40 amps but I don't do heavy welds and never have the machine turned up past half capacity. All the same the existing circuit is a doubled up 30 amp switch. 30 year old house. Guess dryers used a bit more energy then they use now. The GFCI breaker I take it is an outdoor rated breaker, but I will go look that up now. Thanks again to the time you all put into your response wish I could pick more than one best answer.

Answer:
First thing, before you make any modifications is to look at the amperage draw on your welding machine and see if the circuit breaker in your existing 220V circuit will handle it. A 220V dryer is usually on a 30 amp breaker. Your 220 wiring should have black, white, red and green insulation color codes. The black and red are hot lines, the white is neutral and the green is ground. Splice into one hot and the neutral to get 110V.Double the amperage on any appliances plugged into this 110 branch to calculate the load on the breaker.A sub panel with separate breakers is a good idea and I will naturally assume that your are going to use GFCI's and size your cable to code. Good luck.

Question : What kind of battery do I need to power an inverter and can it be charged by a gas generator?
New to this system. I recently bought a gas powered generator for outdoor use—wanting to use it sparingly, I would like to purchase a battery and inverter that will provide necessary power for my low-watt tools and appliances—with the generator being used to charge the battery when it runs out, and power more watt-heavy equipment—like my power tools. I am looking for battery/inverter options and the wiring that would go with them to 1) charge the battery, and 2) connect the battery to the inverter. Thanks in advance!

Answer:
This sort of installation would work well with solar or wind battery chargers. The gas powered generator could be used to power a battery as needed.I have some information on one of my web pages which may help.http://members.rennlist.org/warren/wind.html

Question : Texas: looking for rough estimate, how much the cost to wire a 1600 sq. ft. shell (house)?
Mostly 120V , with 2 or 3 240V outlets. Wiring should be capable of heavier than normal amp load, to accommodate use of power tools on the weekends. Should also be a few outlets on the exterior walls for outdoor use of electrical tools / appliances.

Answer:
Our house is about 3000 square foot and was built in 1996. The material and labor (not counting light fixtures) was $9400. This also included a two car garage and a 500 square foot woodworking shop. There are 5 out door receptacles and two heat pumps. My guess is about $7,000 allowing for inflation and size difference. Location: Tyler, TexasHope this helps.

Question : Alternate Energy Source to add Power to a shed/workshop?
I'm building a 10' x 20' shed and it's going to be used mostly for storage and a small workshop. I have multiple power tools that need power, plus I would like to have lighting, and maybe even a fan. I'm no electrician, but we are going to move an outdoor outlet that's a few feet away from the location of the shed, to the shed for some power. I know this isn't enough power to do everything I need to do, so I was wondering if there are any alternate energy sources I could take advantage of to help add some more power to the shed, and how much would it cost, and generally speaking how you would do it? Thanks

Question : Hi all trying to build a house and not sure of the cable/wire size. its 200m from the box to the house and its?
for underground power and to go under a 2m creek. i will be installing a aircon and and outdoor spa, dishwasher and lighting and power for 7 rooms i also want to be able to run tools like mig welder and power tools. i was tolld to run three phase but not sure of size and amp and insulation. thanks for your help.

Answer:
Get a licensed electrician to do this. Specially with the creek involved. You need to calculate your power needs first, but it seems like you need somewhere in the 200-500 amps area.500 amps three phase 208 is 170 amps per phase.copper, you would need 00 for the current. But calculate the voltage drop for 660 feet, which comes to 26 volts, too high. To keep the voltage drop to 14 volts, still too high, you need 0000 wire, very expensive.Given the very high cost of the wire, talk to the power company, and see if they can run a 6kV line to your house, and put a transformer nearby. This will avoid the high copper cost.I can't find someone selling 4x0000 copper, my guess would b US$50 per foot..

Question : Whats the best outdoor power equipment brands?
I'm looking at Brush cutters (aka clearing saws, brush saws), which aren't exactly common tools to have, but I was wondering about the brands themselves. STIHL and Huskvarna are good choices obviously, but they are expensive. Does anyone know anything about the following: Tanaka, Efco, or Echo? They are significantly cheaper than the Scandinavia brands, but how does the quality compare?

Answer:
Friends of ours use Echo products and seem perfectly happy with them as they won't use anything else for price and reliability !

Question : Lost power to electrical outlet?
Outdoor outlet on deck lost power after using radio and power tools..It's not the outlet itself, The wires feeding to outlet are dead showing 0.02 volts, Line must be the end of a series with just the 3 set of wires(black, white and ground) going into outlet box. Question : How to make a small outdoor chair from firewood?
I am a 15 year old girl, and live on a lake house. I would love to build (by myself) a small outdoor chair. The only wood that we have is round, but from a few trees which have been cutdown. They are about 18-20 inches long, and 4-6 inches wide.I would love to make this to make my own little 'spot' by the water, complete with some flowers. I'm not sure how much wood I have, but any plan would be great. Of course it would be awesome if it isnt too hard, because I AM only 15. I have open-access to power tools and nails, etc.Just as a note, I did find some plywood (2 shoulder lengths long, 1 shoulder length wide.)And a few other pieces of loooong lumber.

Answer:
Take a tape measure and measure what you have. Send me an email and I will try to draw up a plan.....But just to let you know...firewood and plywood will have wood splinters.....Ouch!!!Maybe you could just outfit your special hid away with an old lawn chair....It wont rot and no splinters...And you can fold it up and hide it under some brush....

Question : What kind of solar panel kit would I need to power my garage?
I only need enough power for an outdoor spotlight, interior light & sprinkler computer. And the occasional power tool.

Answer:
power4home.com has a d.i.y. information kit to build your own for less than 100 bucks.the kit costs about 40.
