*** PROFESSIONAL MODEL *** "LEXAN"New never opened or used, NIB. This model is made of Lexan, and is VERY durable. This is a must have for pool, spa, pond owners, Home Inspection Companies, Pool Companies, Builders, and anyone who needs to know if it is leaking or to show that it isn't!Are you tired of having the hose constantly refilling the pool? Do you think the pool is leaking but the builder says it isn't? Are you frustrated when it rains in the middle of your line on the tile, or bucket test and your measurements are ruined? Do you want a fast accurate test that will tell you once and for all if it leaks? If so, this is for YOU! A leaking pool costs more to maintain and if left unchecked can cause thousands of dollars of damage to pool equipment! Works in all pools, spas, & ornamental ponds. Easy to use.If you are a builder, service company, pool retail center, home inspection company, or leak detection company, this piece of equipment is for you. Accurately determine whether a pool, spa, or ornamental pond is leaking, pinpoint whether the leak is in the shell, or equipment, and project a professional image. How it works:Check A Leak utilizes two floats that compare the changes in water levels in two separate chambers of the unit. The two chambers consist of:1.) Water that is isolated from the pool and that is effected only by rain and evaporation.2.) A tube that goes through the bottom of the body and is directly connected to the pool water. The water level in the pool chamber is always the same as the level in the pool. The two floats respond to the changes in the two chambers. If there is a leak in the pool, the leak gauge moves down with the level of the pool while the other float remains at its original level. This change in relationship is easily seen on the leak gauge and the loss of water can be measured.

Questions & Answers
Question : Are swimming pools a lot of trouble to winterize up north?
We are seriouly thinking about buying a swimming pool. My daughter has been diagnosed with Scoliosis and the doctor said that swimming would be great exercise for her. We moved from Lousiana to Kansas a few years ago and I don't know if it is a lot of trouble to take care of a pool here with the prolonged cold in the winter. Is there a lot to do to winterize a pool and is there any pro's or con's to going with "in the ground" or "above the ground"?I would rather not have a pool to maintain but we live out in the sticks so if I get a membership to the "Y" we will probably seldom go.
Answer:
Well, I live even more north (Canada), and it'd really not much of a problem! We have an in-ground pool, and all we really do to prepare for winter is throw in these chemicals they give us and put on the winter cover. The winter cover is hard the first time you do it, but it's really not that bad and the companies around here do it for free your first winter and tell you everything you'll need to do next year! It's simply fantastic! As for the in ground vs. above, it's all in what your looking for, a above ground is removable so if you want to take it out once your daughter leaves you can. The other main difference is temp! The in grounds don't heat up as fast as the above, but they keep their heat longer! Best of luck and hope I helped!

Question : Question for any contractors/engineers designing/building in-ground swimming pools out there?
What is the deepest residential pool one can build? Can I build a small pool 10-12' in diameter 50-60' or deeper ?I want to build something to use for scuba diving. About how much would something like this cost for NJ area. Would there be any legal issues with the permits?
Answer:
This is an interesting question. I would imagine they won't allow you to build this pool. I do know that when building it there are numbers for excavating. For every four feet you go down you need to be one foot away so the earth won't cave in. This is going to be one expensive swimming pool.Good LuckMoskie257

Question : above ground swimming pools, in yuma arizona, how are they, does increase water bill? what is the down side?
what are the pros and cons of an above ground swimming pool,(yuma arizona) does having a large above ground pool increase the monthly water charge? do these pools require much maintaince? give me the all around lowdown on what owning one of these pools is like, moderate costs. do they hold up well?? any answers are welcome, thank you, thinking about spending anywhere from $1,500 to $2,500 advice please?? possibly answers from people who own pools in the yuma az area thank you, what are the best local places to purchase and obtain supplies for poolif there are people in yuma who have above ground pools ,would like to hear what you have to say about pool care and is it worth the effort to maintain a pool
Answer:
They will increase your water bill significantly, because in Yuma, you will lose a lot of water from evaporation, and will have to keep refilling it. You can slow this down with a pool cover, when it's not in use, but you will still lose water. The pools do require maintenance--you still need to clean and chlorinate. If you don't have a filter and pump, you will need to drain the pool periodically to thoroughly clean it, to avoid growth of bacteria. (Yes, some bacteria will survive chlorine)A better choice, IMO, is to go to public pools, especially in a desert climate.

Question : When do swimming pools go on sale during the year in order to get the best discounted price?
I live in Kentucky and I need to buy an above ground or partially above ground swimming pool for long term health therapy. I can wait several months if I have to in order to get a discounted off-season price and I would like to know when most pools get offered for less cost.
Answer:
They generally go on sale during summer. By the end of summer you can save around 75%, but you will be limited to the pools that are left.

Question : Would a sand base or vermiculite base, used with above ground swimming pools, be the best?
I was planning on purchasing an above ground swimming pool(can't place an in ground pool due to rocky soil). The base is the material used below the liner of the pool. I need opinions as to what you would use if you were setting up an above ground swimming pool in your yard. I've been told that the sand would cause troubles with wall expansion by getting into cracks, etc. I've researched vermicultie and it is apparently contaminated with asbestos. Which base would you use? Fine masonary sand or vermiculite?
Answer:
Don't use masonry sand, that would cause a problem. The sand you want to use is regular play sand. Depending on the size of the pool you can either pick up 50lb bags of this at your local hardware store or you can have a few yards dropped off from your local topsoil/landscape/rockery place. If you use the latter you will have to pick out some larger rocks and possibly some organic debris but it is much cheaper if you need a lot of it.Vermiculite will crush and does not stand up to pressures at all. For this reason alone I would not suggest it. Combined with the fact that it contains asbestos (which many many products do by the way) and you have a slight health hazard.

Question : What are the regulations regarding in-ground swimming pools in Connecticut?
ie... fencing requirements for a pre-existing pool.
Answer:
You need to get a permit from the town in which you live. They will check things like the area you want to build it and that the contractor you hire or if you do it yourself has insurance. They need to come and check for thinks like water lines, gas it usually costs about 50 dollars.
