Questions & Answers
Question : Diving Boards in Orange County?
Are there any public/community pools with diving boards in Orange County?

Answer:
The high schools would have diving boards, if there is high school swimming/diving in the area. Or the colleges in the area would have them. Public community pools aren't likely to have boards due to liability issues. And the school boards would probably only be accessible to someone in a diving club [other than students, that is]. USADiving.org has a link to diving clubs all over the US.

Question : What are the jets underneath the diving board at the olympics for?
The jets that shoot out of the bottom of the diving board into the pool. What's the reason for them? Thanks!Good answers, thanks guys!

Answer:
To make the water move. Otherwise it would be very painful diving into the still water from high up.Still water can be very painful.

Does the Gradner Pool in Gardner, kansas have any high diving boards?

Question : How far out on the diving board would a 69 kg diver have to be?
How far out on the diving board (Fig. 9-42) would a 69 kg diver have to be to exert a torque of 1210 m·N on the board, relative to the left (A) support post?

Answer:
Torque is simple really. To get torque you just multiply the force times the distance from where the torque is to be measured. In your problem you are given the torque but need to find the distance. They call this distance the “Moment Arm”. Step 1:Figure out how much force the guy is applying to the board:(69 kg) (9.8 m/s2) = 676.2 NStep 2:Solve for distance (Moment Arm):(676.2 N) (d) = 1210 N md = 1.79mHope that made sense!

Question : Are diving boards illegal to have now?
my friend told me that diving boards are illegal now but i think shes just jealous because we will get one next year when we get our pool built and she doesn't want my pool to be better than hers haha

Answer:
i don't think they are illegal. but the reason they are disappearing is that alot of insurance companies wont cover a pool with a diving board. you will need to have a pool at a depth of at least 8 feet for a diving board. so do make sure you check with your home owners insurance. you will also need 2 fences in most places around your pool.they are classified as attractive nuisance. good luck i love my pool. and i work at a pool year round ..

Question : what is the dimensions of an olympic sized swimming pool with diving boards and platforms?
I need to do some research about an olympic sized pool. i need to know what an olympic sized pool looks like and its dimensions with diving boards and blocks. and i need to get a 3 paragraph summary of Mark Spitz's swimming career. can you help me?

Answer:
Olympic sized pools are all 50 meters(long-course) and the amount of lanes and sizes really varies by pool while the typical swimming pool that you likely swim in is only a 25 meter pool(known as short-course). as for mark spitz he is a great swimmer, a fun fact is he used to still rock his 70s mustache at his olympic events. but if you want indepth information about him this is a great biography- http://www.answers.com/topic/mark-spitz
