Questions & Answers
Question : Question about dba or trade names?? Please Help?
I already have an established business I would like to change a few word in the business to more accuretly reflect what we do. We are now Sunset Pools & Spas LLC. We would like to be able to advertise and have signage under " Sunset Spas & Leisure" . Will I have to change every legal document I have I.e Bank Account Names, Merchant Service, Lease Documents etc? Or can customer's still write checks to the LLC?
Answer:
As far as Banking goes, you will have to change the name. Banks are not allowed to deposit checks made out to a business into any other account except that business account. (i.e. If your customers make their checks out to "Sunset Spas & Leisure" then you will need a bank account in that name.)Not sure about the other documents, but I would assume you'll have to change those as well.

Question : Can I be stopped from parking on a McDonalds car park with no signs displayed there?
My freind and me have recentlel started to car pool to work to help with the carbon footprint and rising fuel charges, in the morning we meet up in a McDonalds car park which is central to us both and handy for getting on the motorway. This morning I was approached by a young girl who informed me that her boss said we weren't allowed to park on the car park. My dispute was that there is no signage on the car park saying it is for customer use only or that you are limited to a maximum amount of stay. When I pointed this out to her the only response I got was "my boss said you can't park here" I occasionally call into the store to get something to eat when I pick the car up at night so technichally I am a customer.Bit of a 50/50 split on this one but just to clear a few things up 1) I have in the past used this McDonalds quite a lot and all the times I have been there the car park is usually never more than half full 2)No I don't have a sign on my drive so if you feel the need to come and park on my drive whilst I'm out at work all day then feel free to but don't complain when my dog jumps all over your car and scatches it 3) I currentley drive a car and motorbike so pay road tax for both of these which works out over £200 a year so I'm not a free loader. But to solve this problem I think from now on I will park on the public road leading upto McDonalds after all I can't get stopped from parking there because at the end of the day thats what I pay my road tax for.
Answer:
Probably can't stop you doing it...but will probaly get you towed.................

Question : Any Angel Investors interested in an established spa and billiard retailer in west Michigan w/ great potential
The business has been open 18 months and why it has such great potential is that the building is on a lease to buy option from another angel with a current upside of over $150,000+ He even applies 9% of lease payments to the agreed upon sale price! A great line of spas with a huge territory, so growth there. Business runs with a staff of one right now as the service and delivery work is subbed out. Interent sales of parts, accessories taking off, billiard and some pool sales finish the package. I am looking for a partner or someone to sell it to and brokers are expensive and can take a year to produce results. Business is located DIRECTLY in front of the area's biggest competitor so the traffic flow is good and we don't need to advertize much as they do a ton. Needs a dedicated a strong salesperson and some cash to change signage and spruce up exisiting parking lot.
Answer:
I know of two angel groups in the Michigan area that you may want to contact Grand Angels - Grand Rapids, MI http://www.grandangels.org/Great Lakes Angels - Bloomfield Hills, MI http://www.glangels.org/CNN Money http://money.cnn.com/2006/02/28/magazines/business2/angelinvestor/index.htm has a very good article on angel investors, what they typically look for, what kind of investments they support, etc. Here are other places where angel investors come and those looking for funding can come and pitch their business plans.
