I have better luck with my home-made tool than this one.

I used a piece of PVC and I cut a piece of "pool vacuum hose" and clamped it to the end of the pvc. Then I cut a V shaped slit in the pool hose, wide at the mouth, narrow at the clamp, slit face down toward the bottom of the pool when in use. This contraption I made does a better job than the liner vacuum I purchased, which seems to have too much surface area for the puny pump that comes with the temporary summer pool I used it on. -- which I realize is most of the problem and with a real pump and filter the results would likely have been MUCH better.

Just like in the store, but cheaper

You've seen this in every pool store or hardware store that sells pool products. I like the rotating cuff too. If your hose doesn't have one (rotating cuff), this 360-degree cuff will eliminate kinks so your hose won't wrap up onto itself. Works great, looks great.

Only problem I can determine is the weight of it. With using longer pool hoses/poles, or in deeper pools it's difficult to determine if it's actually flat on the bottom of the pool because it's so light weight. Even in my 4.5' deep pool, if I try to vaccume too fast, it will lift off the bottom. To get the proper suction when vacuming it needs to sit flat on the pool bottom.

They should find a way to add a bit of weight to this product and it would be perfect.

I REALLY LIKE IT!

This works much better than the rectangular sweeper we had before. It picks up leaves and sediment much better and works from any direction. Also, the price is great too! I just saw the same product at the pool store and they were asking $44.00 for it.

Good item for "temporary" summer pools

I live in a climate where pools are used for 3 months at best. I was unaware I'd have to vacuum a pool if I had the kind you leave up all summer...but this made it easy. You need a pole to attach this to, but it's easy to store, and great for picking up things off the bottom your net can't get. Also, if you have to "shock" your pool, this is important to own to vacuum up the dead algae. Gentle enough on the edges to not scuff or tear your liner. Good implement.

Great pool vacuum!

This pool vacuum was a necessity because I had broken the handle of our pool vacuum and our pool was getting dirty! When I first tried this vacuum, I was amazed! It worked SO much better than our old one; I was glad I had broken the old one! This works really well and sucking up dirt and junk from the pool and it is easy to glide across the bottom of the pool. My old "issue" with it is that sometimes large leaves get stuck in the brushes, and then I have to try to knock the leaf off. If I can get it off, the vacuum will suck it right up!

Great Buy


I am very pleased with this purchase. When I bought it I found out quickly that I needed a fine filter badly, so I called a local pool store that was supposed to be the local seller of this product to find one. The woman acted like I was an insane person asking for something no one would ever make or ask for. Anyhow I cut one of my daughter's leggings (pantyhose) to fit the coarse filter, and presto a wonderfully effective fine filter. This is a really good deal, and a great price for it.

Poorly Constucted and Supported Product

Just had my second 'Blaster bust on me- Please take these negative reviews concerning this defective product to heart- I read so many five star reviews and can guarantee the majority of these owners have had theirs a year or less- I would like all of those who have had this product for 3-5 years or more submit a review as it is my firm belief there are no long term happy Pool Buster owners out there- If you exist-we(who have lifeless units) could use your expertise on correct charging and care of this product as the manufacturers seem to have no clue- If I am doing something wrong with charging times or care-I need to find the answers from someone else-everything Watertech tells me-DOESN'T WORK!

Worst Came True, but good Customer Serivce

I had read the reviews citing how quickly the battery/motor went bad, but thought that it was worth a try as there were also good reviews. I am surprised that a product that is meant to go underwater is not actually water proof. It lasted for 3-4 cleanings and then went bad. Also found 12 hour recharge time a bit much for the 10 minute periods I used it for. If they figure out how to make a water proof cleaner I would definitely consider again. I returned within 30 days and am now awaiting refund. Also, if you buy, it comes with one sand/silt filter, so you don't have to buy separately right away.

Great vacuum but needs more information

This is a great vacuum but they don't tell you that you need a special pole for its use. You cannot just use the telescoping pole that you would use with your skimmer. Make sure you also get additional hose!!!!!!!!!

Great Pool Vacuum

The Hydro tool 8165 pool vacuum is a great product. High quality construction makes me satisfied that it will last a long time. I espicially like the side brushs. When you roll the vacuum across the pool surface, the side brushs kick up the dust/dirt in the hard to reach areas. Heavy weighted keeps it on the ground. Installing the spring accordingly makes for a stable mount on your pool pole. After using this product for three weeks, it makes me realize how keeping a pool clean can be easy.
