Badger 5, Another One Bites the Dust
We have just moved into a 6 year old house and the Badger 5 garbage disposal has a nuisance leak. The leak is most evident when emptying a basin of water, which then fills the disposal. Of course, the house inspection didn't pick this up and it is out of warranty! There is a vertical crack the full length of the housing between the conical transition and the motor canopy. Reading other reviews, this is more than wear and tear and should be considered a design flaw. This disposal is also relatively noisy. We would not purchase this disposal again. However, we did replace it with another Badger product, an Evolution Series Space Saver. It is a completely different construction and design and comes with a four (4) year warranty. It is as quiet as a church mouse and was easy to install on the existing spin-on mounting. Although the cost is about double it will be well worth it!!

Will not last
I have lived in my house for only ten years and have alread had two garbage disposals. The last one purchased at home depot was the Badger 5. This one lasted less than 4 years. It worked fine while it worked. Just this week I found a ton of water under my sink and found that the flywheel seal was toast. I thought I could replace it but the service department indicated that the body is made of plastic and can not be serviced without a high cost. They indicated it would be most cost effective to buy a new one.
I will and I plan to purchase a different brand. Don't fool yourself I am an Engineer and know they can do better than this.

Beware of missing parts
I was replacing a unit that was 9 years old. This unit does NOT come with a power cord or the rubber gasket needed to mount the unit to the upper mount. I had to reuse both parts from the old unit. Not happy with this. The box had no instructions in it and the instructions online are very poor. The unit did work once I mounted it. It seams to be quieter than the old one. Just be prepared to buy extra parts when buying this unit.

THE WORST
THIS PRODUCT SUCKS. WE HAD A LOWER END PRODUCT...PROBABLEY A KENMORE...IN OUR OLD HOUSE AND NEVER EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT IT. THIS INSINKERATOR CAME WITH OUR HOUSE AND WE HAVE TO PLUNGE IT CONSTANTLY. DO---NOT---BUY. THE COMPANY SHOULD RECALL THIS PRODUCT AND GIVE EVERY PO'D CUSTOMER A NEW ONE.

Replacement Food Disposer
I moved into a new town-home in 2003 which included a InSinkErator Badger 1/4 HP disposer. It lasted up until this year, 2010. I decided to upgrade to the 1/2 HP Badger 5. The installation could not have been more straight-forward and simple. I won't lie; I didn't do it since my handy-man brother was helping me, but it took him but 15 minutes. It works like a charm and helps out with the smelly food-waste fermenting in a garbage can. I would recommend this to anyone with little do-it-yourself knowledge and someone who wants to keep cost down.

Nice styling and pretty powerful spray!
I really like the styling of this shower head and it does what it says it does, gives you a more powerful water pressure experience. I love the hose, it stretches the length of the entire tub, so it is easy to use for cleaning. An added benefit that I really didn't even think it had! Buy one if your pressure runs a bit low. It's a blast....!

Good until it broke...
I purchased the white one in Feb-2010 and I liked how it worked until six months later the plastic adapter around the ball joint just snapped as I was stepping into the shower. You can replace that part with another plastic one from a hardware store for ten bucks, but that's just not right. Would be better if they made metal adapters.

Works great until...
This shower has a great spray pattern and the valve that lets you vary the pressure gives you the best of both worlds--economy and enough pressure to get your hair clean. Even as I used it the first time I was wondering how long the valve would last, and now I know--exactly two showers, after which it broke. This product is Chinese made, and the Chinese motto seems to be "happy with crappy."

Pressure
When a friend told me about this product, I was thinking, "yeah right, how can a shower head produce more water pressure?" I put off buying one for almost a year. Soon enough it was time for vacation. My friend again asked me if I had bought the shower head yet. That night I went home and ordered one from the internet. I received my order a couple days later and put the whole box in our trailer and took it to utah with us. When we arrived in utah, I asked my husband to install it and he reluctantly did. That night I took a shower and couldn't believe how much pressure that shower head produced. I had to turn it down a notch. I love my oxygenics shower head and I tell all my camping friends about it.

JUST AS DESCRIBED AWESOME!
PLEASE, PLEASE do no listen to people who say the force of the shower is too hard on the skin. They obviously, do not understand what Psi is or what is means. The shower head is as stated by the manufacturer; and just with the same force as when I used it in the hotel where we stayed. It is so good I bought both the hand held and the shower head. I am giving it to my sister and daughter for Christmas. I actually listen to one of the reviews that says she returned her Oxygenics for the Delta. I bought the Delta and returned it immediately. Absolutely no pressure. Take my advice, if you've used the Oxygenics in a hotel and loved it as I did, buy it without listening to naysayers.

Unexpected Purpose
I found out it does not come with a shower head, it's just the filter. This filter attaches to any showerhead you put it with. So, you can use whatever showerhead you want with it.

shower head filter
My wife noticed a differance in the water when she took a shower. I smiled because I had not told her yet that I put a filter in the shower. Of course she asked what the white thing was for.

You get a lot for what you pay for!!!
I purchased this not too long ago, and so far it has been working just fine. I have to say, that the product does what it advertised. My apartment has very hard water, and after you get out of the shower, your skin is tough and dry and my hair felt like a brick! It was almost like taking a shower in hot pool water with all that chlorine!!! I needed to find a solution to this problem. After searching, I have heard about the rave reviews that the Aquasana product was getting. I was fooled... not only did my shower feel no different, but the thing is huge and takes up a lot of room (not to mention the black water that comes out for the first few minutes!). Not a good thing. So I tried a MUCH CHEAPER Culligan filter. Thank God I did, because this actually works decently (and it was easy to install). During the first shower I took, I was just wowed the whole time. Not only did my skin feel better and not dry afterward, but my hair was actually soft and I could brush it normally again. Although it's not at the level of being soft water, it's definitely miles ahead of the crappy water I had before! You definitely get what you paid for and more!
In conclusion, please listen to my review and don't waste your money on that expensive Aquasana bulky thing, and buy a Culligan filter, you won't be disappointed! I've already recommended this filter to my friends that live in apartments and dorms!

Like a garage sale item for full price
The shower + filter unit was received in used condition. (dirt residue inside the filter assembly). Also the unit squirts and leaks the water which confirms the used condition and why it was returned. If they send me the new one I would not want to return this for fear that you may sell it again to some unsuspecting customer. Other wise I will write it off as a loss. Bad Culligen/Amazon

Great!
No loss of pressure, easy to install, and has made a total difference in my hair! I'm originally from the east coast and we didn't have hard water like we do in Los Angeles so I needed to get a filter and after some research, it was recommended that I get the Culligan shower filter. I have no regrets and even suggested it to my friends!

Good shower at last
The Waterpic allows me to adjust the shower for my 6'1" height and also allows my 5' wife to adjust it to her height. I love the ability to select the type of shower spray from a gentle spray to hard pulsating beads of water. I highly recommend the Waterpik shower head.

Good
I had the old white one of these and was looking for another for the kids bathroom. I bought this, but was worried b/c of the reviews. Well, ours is great. We did take out the resister (water saver thing) and it has GREAT water pressure. The pressure is almost too much, I wish we had tried it b/f removing the resistor. I was worried about water pressure due to other reviews. And, it does not leak at all and is easy to adjust, again, opposite of previous reviews. We are happy with the purchase!

Excellent product
This showerhead is perfect for a shower shared by someone short (me) and someone tall (my husband) as it can be adjusted up or down, toward the side of the shower or right in the middle of the shower. I have had this model in three houses and a duplex over the past few years, and replace it with the exact same thing whenever I have to. I have also caught my husband using it to rinse down the sides of the shower, kind of like a hand-held sprayer would work - but I wouldn't encourage that sort of behavior.

Better than the old one
Looked for a long time for this product. A little different than my 10 year old model, but the difference is better.
Rating :
Great shower,but for short people
With the regulator that comes pre-intstalled, this is just another showerhead. But removing the regulator makes it work far better than the other half-dozen or so brands I've tried (even with their restrictors removed). The high pressure setting blasts away, and the full spray setting feels like a downpour. We got this so that I (6'5") and my wife can each have the shower head where we like it. But as other reviewers have noted, the flexible arm has a hard time holding the shower head up well. It makes it clumsy for someone as tall as me. Fortunately, I have a custom made shower that is already 6 inches higher than normal or I don't think this would work at all for someone my height.

not real great
pretty cheap, but what would you expect for $25. I just ordered a hand-held shower (DELTA) for our new master bath and that one cost over $200 and is all metal. This Waterpik is plastic and broke when we tightened it.

What! No Massage?
I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon usually because the customer reviews are right on. I guess I should have read more closely. What a disappointment. I wanted to replace one I had - the "Teledyne Original Shower Massage". I loved it. I loved the pulsing water on my shoulders and back. This one installed easily as they all do, but what a disappointment. I'm definitely not keeping this one. There must be one out there that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Very satisfied
I've been using Waterpik handheld's for years, and this is a good one. The finish is very nice, and holds up well. I have no issues at all with the water pressure -- it's very good as far as I'm concerned. Highly recommended.

The waterpik trs-559
The waterpik trs-559 has two water filters inside the attachment to your water line. One is white and the other is black. The manual says you can choose not to install the white one, but pull both of them out. If installed this way I kid you not the handheld is the best handheld shower I have ever used. Without the two filters water flys out the handheld as amazing speed. If installed my way this handheld is worth twice what amazon want you to pay. This product is top of the line better than the 50 60 70 dollar handheld trust me.

Questions & Answers
Question : How to work on plumbing and electrical in a non basement house ?
I am a pretty good DIY plumber and an okay DIY electrician. However, in every home where I had to do the work always had a basement or crawl space. I am getting ready to buy a house without either and my question is:How do you access the plumbing and electrical if you can't get to it from the basement. I know it's in the walls and I will probably have to cut sheet rock to get to it. But I guess what I'm really asking is how do you detect where the exact problem is? Whether it be a leaky pipe or running an extra outlet.I guess I will have to access wiring from the attic but still not sure about plumbing.Thanks.
Answer:
There are meters to help you figure out which wire from your panel box is "dead", ask at the home improvement store which will work with your needs. Also, There may be major leaks (if the house is on a solid concrete floor) that requires a professional. However, a standard stud-finder will help locate pipes in the walls, or if you have the old galvanized pipes, try a magnet. Also, before you buy the house, have a professional inspection done so if there are leaks or electric problems that propose a fire hazard, you will have a heads up on them and may be able to negotiate a lower buying price to compensate for the cost of repairs.

Question : Is hot water plumbing connected to the toilet plumbing?
I have a problem. I always flush my cig butts down the toilet and now there is a plumbing problem in my apt building. They will be turning off the hot water for repairs. Will It get traced back to me?
Answer:
Only cold water it routed to the toilet. Flushing drains the water to the sewage pipe. Hot or cold bears nothing to this, its all sewage.

Question : Where do I get plumbing blueprints for my house?
We are trying to clean out our plumbing system, but we don't know where all of the pipes are located. We are looking for a public house blueprint or something to help us out.
Answer:
Many cities have what they call "as-built drawings"Check with your local city building department and see if they still have themIf not you can have someone come with a camera and locator and tell you exactly where they are but thats not real cheap cost 400-500 to do

Question : How difficult is it to get electricity and plumbing for a backyard pond that is 33 feet away from the house?
According to my previous research about ponds, I will need an electricity and plumbing source for a pump in a pond. I would like my pond to be around 100 gallons maximum. So how difficult is it to bring electricity and plumbing to my desired location?Thanks-- any help will work!
Answer:
I have 2 ponds, both over 100 gallons, 40' from my house, and the only plumbing I have ever needed is in my outside water faucet, with my hose attached. If you want electricity, I paid a handy man $300. He dug the trench, laid the conduit, wired the box and tapped into my household circuit.

Question : How much does plumbing cost to start a Yogurt shop?
I am starting a Yogurt Shop like Pinkberry. I am planning to lease a 800 sq ft space. The space was a previously a office, a rectangular layout. It does have a bathroom in the back, what would be the rough amount of cost to get the adequate plumbing in there?
Answer:
You would really have to contact a commercial plumber for this.

Question : How do you prevent plumbing clogs while saving energy and water?
I am trying to do my part to save water and energy by using cold water whenever I can for laundry, washing dishes and hands, etc. I also try to prevent wasting water by not letting the sink and bathtub run, and have installed a tankless water heater for near instant hot water. The problem is that my plumbing frequently backs up due to buildup of soap/shampoo/laundry detergent/dishwashing detergent. I've read that flushing the plumbing once a month with large volumes of hot water will help prevent/treat this problem, but that goes against my principles of trying to save energy and water. Does anyone have good ideas for preventing plumbing clogs from soap/detergent buildup, without wasting a lot of energy or water?
Answer:
Simple solution is to use bicarbonate and vinegar. If you clean your toilet with vinegar and sprinkle bicarbonate of soda round the bowl instead of chemical detergents you will have fewer problems to start with. To unblock sinks drains loos etc, pour vinegar into it then sprinkle on baking soda until you get loads and loads of fizzing. Once this has settled, flush or rinse with a small amount of boiling water. Do once a week, vinegar is anti bacterial and bicarbonate of soda deodorizes. If it is really backed up leave overnight then repeat. If you clean with vinegar, salt and bicarbonate of soda, then you do not get as many blocked drains. Similarly if you use them for washing and softening clothes, there are fewer problems with washing machines, less mess and the clothes are much gentler on the skin and soft too. I use vinegar instead of hair conditioner each time I shower, gets rid of any deposits on your hair and keeps the drains clean too.

Question : What are the issues with copper plumbing in a home built in 1988?
I have a friend who has a home that has copper plumbing. The residence was built in 1988, and she was told by a neighbor that copper plumbing is bad and has to be removed/replaced in order to keep the value of the home for resale. This doesn't seem to make sense and the home DOES NOT have any plumbing issues to date. The neighbor cautioned that copper plumbing can burst. Is there any ring of truth to this or is the neighbor thinking of something else. A home built in 1988 doesn't seem that old to me. Please help. All answers are welcome. Thanks.Additional details. Here is the suspected issue:Different metals or types of pipe: copper and galvanized iron, were directly connected in the potable water supply systemFrom this point of view, we are told the entire plumbing in the home needs to be changed. Can this be right?
Answer:
If the copper pipe is stressed, it will create a leak, but only if stressed. By this I mean thin wall, kinks, etc.I have never heard of copper pipes devaluing a home. If anything, copper will add value compared to CPVC or galvanized. If there are no issues with leakage or significant corrosion, leave it.

Question : How can we access plumbing in floor if we tile the floor?
We have a house that was built in 1900s and a bedroom was made into the bathroom. The plumbing is in the floor. Plywood was screwed around the plumbing as an access door and then carpet was placed over it - of course the carpet got moldy after many, many years. Now we want to place ceramic tile in the bathroom - how can we still get access to the plumbing easily if something goes wrong and there is tile there? I want to think you can do a tile an access panel that can be removable but would it leak if it got wet? Help!
Answer:
If your not happy with the answers you got, you might want to try this.... they now make a laminate floor that looks a lot like tile you could leave the screwed down plywood and go over it with the laminate. then if you have to get to it just remove the molding and threshold piece and the laminate (as long as you don't glue it) will lift out one piece at a time from the last piece installed in. (you might want to buy the type with the foam backing so that will come up with the floor)
