Watch out for the "battery" deal on amazon

The light is fine, read the other reviews, I just wanted to make sure you don't buy this with the CR3032 battery pack that always seems to appear on the page. If you have some other use for CR3032's, fine, but this light takes 33 AAA batteries.

Great book light

This creates a ton of evenly distributed light. Runs for a long time before it needs new batteries. Flex arm stays nicely in place.

Lights up your book!

You sit down on your nice comfortable chair with a drink in one hand and a book in the other hand. You are excited to read that great book and go on a reading "adventure". You put the drink down and open your book when all of a sudden...there isn't enough light in the room. You end up squinting trying to read the words on the page, only to get a headache from squinting for so long. This makes you annoyed so you close the book and put it away. This was my case. So I had to buy something to light up my pages.

This book light is great. It conveniently clips on to your book and lights up the pages for you. The upper body of the light adjusts so you can move it any way you like for better lighting. This is also a great way to save electricity, so you don't have to keep your light on for hours while reading. This is a great light for all you book lovers. And now I can enjoy my book without the headache!

Good Book Light

This book light is light weight and works fine on a paperback or hardcover book. The light covers just enough space. The neck is very adjustable and stays in place. Once when I first got it (a few weeks ago) the light flickered once, but It hasn't happened again.

Finally, a quality product!

I used to have a cheap reading light that worked horribly. This one is great. It has a bulky base but the clip side is very slender and doesn't interfere with the pages of the book I'm reading. It clips nice and soundly to hardcovers, and the clip can even be inserted into the spine area on a lot of books. The reticulating "shaft" is easily manipulated and stays put in the desired position. The light is VERY bright, so bright, in fact, that I had to put two layers of masking tape over it to dim it. Unlike my previous light, this one shines on the pages and not in your eyes. It also illuminates all of both pages being read; not just a small spot like other lights. I've had the light for almost two months now and it has been used almost every night without a problem. My wife has even taken to using it quite a bit so I might end up having to get her one as well.

Good but not great

From a motion-sensor standpoint, it works as described. From a brightness standpoint, it's not all that bright. I use it in a small closet, and it's about half as bright as the 15-watt fluorescent tube I had there before.

NO DAYLIGHT OFF FUNCTION!

I bought 6 of these to light up the outdoor stairs leading up to my hillside home. Unfortunately, unlike what the product description suggests, there is NO DAYLIGHT OFF function! The ONLY way to turn this off is to remove it from where you have it mounted, because the only (manual) off switch is on the BACK of the unit! When you have this installed on a wall, or a post, access to the switch will be entirely blocked!

Since I frequently travel up and down my stairs where I mounted the lights, it is silly, wasteful of energy, and annoying to have these lights popping on all day long in broad daylight.

Other than the misleading product description, and the very poor placement of the switch, I would say that the device DOES put out a decent amount of light. If only they would have added a photo sensor, this would actually be a useful product!

NOTE: Of the 6 of these that I ordered, 1 arrived with a small defect. (the motion sensor cover was loose and pushed back inside the unit) I have since returned all 6 of these. And now the search continues for an AFFORDABLE product just like this, but WITH an AUTOMATIC daylight off sensor!

Safety on stairs

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1L9SCFQ4QW5H3 These are exactly what we were looking for. Our basement stairs are not well-lighted. We could hire someone to put in an electric light, because we aren't handy that way. Or we could put in battery operated lights, but would have to turn them off and on as needed. But motion sensor lights come on only when needed and turn off when they aren't needed. They are just perfect and give plenty of light to this dark area. The video shows how they work without any basement lights on.

Works well in closet

I bought 3 of these. One is now an 8 LED unit. Hope the other two remain 10 LED units. Since they do not have a photo cell I got them for closets that remain dark at all times so there isn't the problem of them coming on in daylight conditions. Mounting on top of door frame isn't easy with only the single mounting hole but does work. Lights come on when the door opens or just as you reach into closet. They are not super bright but are helpful for dark closets. Haven't had them long enough to determine battery life. OK considering the price.

Rating :

No daylight "off".

In the description, it states the sensor has daylight "off". It doesn't, so it goes on during daylight(or having lights on). This will drain the batteries faster. It does serve my purpose anyway.

Got wet stopped working

Like another reviewer reported, we had a heavy rain storm and our unit got wet and stopped working. I really had liked it otherwise. It shed good light over our kitchen door from a height of about seven feet, so I was able to see the five steps leading up to the door and the key hole very clearly at night. When I pulled my car in near the door it would go on, and it didn't waste battery power by turning on during the day. I might buy another one and built a little "roof" for it.

Installs quikly

This product is easy to install. It works; however, the light isn't very strong so there isn't a significant amount of illumination. Overall, I'm pleased.

Perfect, I bought 2!

This works perfectly, I put it right outside my front door and if anyone walks up it turns on, the best thing is how you replace the batteries. I have porch lights but they were electrically installed to high for them to work when some one came up to the front door....I kept the second one in the house for a back up for a light if we have a hurricane and have no lights....You can walk into the bathroom and it will light right up :) I saw this product on the today show the day I bought it and ran to the computer to search for it....Totally did what I wanted and more! I could be back for more.

Very Nice LED Light

I am using this light in my garage and generally it works well. For an LED device, it has a bright light. It has good motion sensitivity, and the photocell control works well. The only problem is that the 30 second on-time is too short. If you run out to get something beyond the sensor's range, the light turns off sooner than you would like; then you're on your own in the dark. The on-time should really be adjustable.

The most versatile light in a new high-tech finish that's easy to grip and perfectly complements all your digital tools. Ideal for e-Readers, laptop computers, PDAs and keyboards. This flexible reading light has a fully articulated neck that can be aimed wherever you need light. The two bright LEDs cast a broad, even pool of light that's easy to aim, and the neck holds them just where you want. Perfect for stylish reading in bed, travel, study, and of course digital books and e-readers. Two sets of batteries included.

The push button switch is low quality

I've been on the quest for a good book light for a very long time. Usually they start off OK, but dim considerably after just a few hours of use and also have dark spots in the corners of the page. This light does NOT have that problem. It is very bright, it easily illuminates two full pages of a large hardcover novel with no dark spots. It's easy to read by. I love the flexible neck and the big clip that can fasten over multiple pages and holds like a champ. The problem is the switch. It is a push button that does not work reliably. Sometimes you have to push the button ten times to turn it on or off, the other night I spent a half an hour fiddling with the stupid thing before I finally got a screw driver and removed the battery. Of course, by the time I did that, I was no longer relaxed enough to sleep. This book light would be perfect if the switch worked. I'm really disappointed.

Rating :

Too dim

Nice flexibility with the bendy neck, but changing the battery didn't make it any brighter. I had to move the light down the page as I read, and even on paperbacks the light didn't spread all the way across the page. I'd rather wear a headlamp than unclip the light every time I need to turn the page anyway.

Love it

I love the little book light. The only thing is that I was promised batteries and they were not in the box.

GE Incandescent Night Light With Motion Sensor 50723.

Customer Review :

A bit unpredictable, but dependable

Like a few other reviewers, I had to return the first GE LED Motion Sensing Night Light. It worked for 3 minutes, then it wouldn't shut off regardless of direct sunlight or lack of motion. Amazon makes it easy to return via UPS, I kept the faulty light plugged in at night until my replacement arrived 2 days after I reported the problem. My new one triggers when it senses motion in the dark anywhere from 17' to 13.5' (I measured). I approach mine when I walk down a hall directly towards it--it's located at the opposite side of the living room. I'm going to order a few more for other parts of the house.

About the unpredictable part. Sometimes it goes on for no reason at all, I've seen it happen from the distance when I'm motionless and out of range. Sometimes I come home and see the light on. But since it's a low-energy LED, the quirkiness doesn't bother me.

Rating :

No automatic turn off after 60 seconds

Once turn on, the light don't turn off automatically after 60 seconds. So don't expect the feature "Light turns off 60 seconds after last detected motion". Waste of money!!

Rating :

Excellent LED Light

This is a great product because its an LED and its motion sensor is flawless. Very low power usage, bright light, and the LED should last quite a while. I have 3 of these in the hallway and one right inside the bedroom door.

Rating :

Waste of money

I ordered two. One died immediately. It seemed to be a problem with the plug/wiring connection. The prongs are loose and don't seem to be making their connections internally. My gut feeling was that if I could get it to work it would probably pose a fire hazard due to the poor electrical connection. This one went into the trash. The other one at least worked when I plugged it in although it does come on by itself at night without any motion to trigger it. I bought these based on the good reviews and the fact it's a GE product. I feel like I wasted my money.

I ended up going to Home Depot and buying a motion sensing night light of a brand I did not recognize (nor can remember) and it's working great.

Question : what is wrong with my cars electrical system? 200 amp alt install?
car = 2002 mitsubishi mirage 1.5l de coupe.-i just installed my new 200 amp alternator, i ran 1/0 gauge wire from the alt to my battery.-everything was good for the first 10 mins, then my belt started squeeking and my car slowly but surely died, the lights started dimming and then finnaly shut off. what is wrong? do i need to upgrade the ground? do i need a new belt? please help.

Answer:
your not suppose to run wires off of your alternator that nigger rigging you should of got a kinetik battry run 0 guage from your car battery to the other battery in your trunk then run off wat ever you want off that battery

Question : How to connect a 2 channel amp to a computer?
hi i have a question i have a 2 channel amp siting at home with subwoffers i was wondering if i could hook this up on my computer and if i can, how should i give the car amp power? i was thinkin of taking a cell phone charger shaving the wire from the front and attaching it to the amp then from there i have a cigarette light transformer which converts from cigarette outlet to electrical outlet im wondering if this is possible?

Answer:
No the phone charger probably isn't 12v output they usually only around 3 volts. It also will not be able to carry the load the amp would need. You best bet is to buy AC DC converter. Many car audio shops have them for testing equipment without having to put it in a car.Car amps are best suited for a cars. I know it's just sitting around but if your wanting to build an audio system for you computer selling the amp and buying home audio equipment will give the best results.

Question : what type of meter you use to see if an electrical circuit is energized ohm, amp, light meter,or volt meter?
what type of meter you use to see if an electrical circuit is energized ohm, amp, light meter,or volt meter?

Answer:
It depends on what you want to measure. If the circuit is energized you could use an amp and a volt meter. If the circuit has some light emitting device you could also use a light meter. Your circuit must be discharged if you want to measure the resistance though.

Question : my cars electrical system is being burdoned by my sound system what should i do?
i just installed a 1200 watt sony amp in my car with 2 subs, the lights dim when the bass hits hard and im afraid im going to damage the electrical system if i let it go. my cars a 95 mustang gt. would a capacitor do the trick? does anyone know how much amperage i have and how much more i need?

Answer:
Javin M is so full of....well crap. He doesn't have the electrical background to know what a capacitor is let alone what it does. I know this because he and I have had a little chat on the matter and he has trouble backing up his claims with fact, he relies strictly on hearsay. As far as connectivity, it would be best to contact the manufacturer to do it correctly.I know a cap can be beneficial as I'm running one and I measured a definite change in my electrical systems response curve to big bass hits with an oscilloscope. If your total system power is more than 1000 watts RMS you will need to:1. Upgrade the alternator to a high output alternator2. Upgrade to a heavy duty deep cycle battery3. Upgrade the "Big 3" - that is to replace the power wire between the battery and alternator and the ground strap.Failure to do this will result in you replacing them anyway as the alternator will eventually fail. Here is a guide that will calculate what size alternator and power wires you need http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php?file=6d26c621You'll need Microsft Excel to use it.See my site for more info http://spkrbox1.spaces.live.com

Question : 200 or 400 amp electrical service?
I am remodeling a 5000 sq foot home that currently has 200 amp service. My contractor says we need to upgrade to 400 amps because we will have 2 heatpumps and one ac unit and about 75 recessed lighting fixtures when we're done. The developer says 200 amp service is fine for this load. Who is right?

Answer:
Your contractor. While the 200 service might squeak by, it's far better to err on the coservative side. That 400 is one hell of a lot cheaper than a new house!

Question : Will a 100 amp to to 200 amp increase electrical bill? Approx. cost for NJ?
Pardon my total ignorance. A lot of times lights flicker when my A/C clicks on or when hair dryer is being used in bedroom when washer & dryer & computer & lights are on in my 1100 sq. ft. home. And certain lights in the house "blow out" a lot more than others. An electrical plug/light combo in the basement blew out and now the light doesn't work. The house was built in 1997, so it is not that old.. 1. If I have to upgrade to 200 amp service, will my monthly electrical bill be higher because of the upgrade?2. Also, about how much (in central New Jersey) would it it cost (approx) to upgrade from 100 to 200 amp service? What size wire would good electrical contractor use?

Answer:
You probably just need your wiring checked. Sounds like a loose neutral connection, or something. Improving the incoming service probably won't help. Going to a 200 amp box will have no affect on your monthly usage. You probably never come close to 100 amps (that's over 20,000 watts of potential power). Best thing would be to have all the wiring between the circuit panel and the outlets checked. All it takes is a burnt wire or loose/weak connection to cause the symptoms you describe. I don't recommend you do this, but I went and tightened all the pinch screws on all the wires in my panel and replaced all my sockets with the kind that screw the wire in place. The newer, more convenient push in terminals are junk.

Question : How many can lights can I put on a 15 amp circuit in MN?
HI I need to know if anyone knows the MN electrical code for how many can lights I am allowed on one circuit using 14-2 with 15amp. also I would like to put some in my soffit outside, any type of can required for this? Thanks.

Answer:
Just keep the total load less than 80% of the circuit and you should be fine, even Dave Jacobson would not have a problem with that, he is a fun inspector to deal with, if you are borderline will depend on the inspector, if you are over it will not fly. In the 2008 code there is this nice little deal about all electrical equipment installed outdoors, has to be rated either for damp, or wet locations, even gfci outlets in an in use cover, and in a house have to be of the "tamper resistant type" . If you watch those things, even good old Dave won't have a problem with it, but I bet he still looks at every breaker in your panel, the label I mean... Good luck..

Question : How many electrical outlets and lighting fixtures can I put on a 15 amp circuit running 14-2 NM wire?
How many electrical outlets and lighting fixtures can I put on a 15 amp circuit running 14-2 NM wire?

Answer:
By code 6 points. A point is defined as a connection and a receptical is 2 points.

Question : Should I remove an amp and am i damaging any electrical components of my car?
I just got a sound system set up in my stock civic. I got 4 alpine speakers that are suppose to be 80 watts rms and 2 12'' subs that says 1000 watts. Im not sure if its peak or rms. The alpine speakers are attatched to a 4 channel powerbank amp that says 1000 watts max and the subwoofers are attatched to a 2 channel powerbank amp that also says 1000 watts. The people that set it up for me said that I should be good if i keep my engine on and to not leave the system on for over 30 mins when the engine is off. I am just wondering if i should remove the subwoofers and the amps for the subs since i think they quality of the alpines are more than suffiecient for my needs. Please help me out!!! I dont want to be damaging my car and not know it. PS. I have not been dimming and all my components like ac, lights work normal. Thanks in advance.

Answer:
Depends on what you want....If you remove that amp, and it WAS powering the 4 alpine speakers....80watt RMS....your stereo, even most aftermarkets only put out around 40-50watts x 4....if it's aftermarket...stock...all depends on what it is...could be 25x4 etc...Sooo.....what you can try to do is disconnect your subs to see what the alpines sound like just by itself....IF you think then that it is enough you could just do away with the subs...and let the amp run the 4 speakers. You could always take it back to the guys who installed it for you, they could probably hook the 4 alpine speakers 1 speaker per channel...you have a 4 channel 1000watt amp....that way you would have Stereo (left and right...) as well as Fading front and rear....

Question : can I branch a 15 amp circuit with 14AWG connected to 2 lights to a 20 amp circuit with 12 AWG?
how do i do this to meet electrical code?

Answer:
You want to attach some 12 AWG wire to an existing 15 amp 14 AWG wire circuit? That is no problem as long as you leave the overcurrent protection at 15 amps. And that is just fine with the electric code.Want to attach some 14 AWG wire to an existing 20 amp 12 AWG wire circuit? Nope. Use 12 or change the overcurrent protection devise to 15 amps. Per the same electric code.
