Editorial Review :

Briwax is a solvent based blend of beeswax and carnauba wax. Briwax has long been recognized by furniture restoration professionals as a premiere, multi-purpose furniture wax. It produces a lustrous patina, not a glossy surface shine. It is suitable for use as a finish on new wood or stripped furniture, a reconditioner for old or damaged finishes, a furniture wax for fine furniture and antiques or an antiquing agent where the desire is to "age" a newly painted carving or project. Tinted waxes can be lightened or removed with the clear wax. 16 oz.

furniture paste

I used this paste on antique furniture and it made the furniture look new. It does clump and dry in corners, but you can go back and clean it out. I love the product!

french paste wax

we purchased this wax for our french antiques. after living in Europe for several years, we acquired several wooden casegoods. these pieces must be polished with french wax every 6 months. since returning to the states, we have been searching for a wax.
we have found Briwax to be very suitable for our antiques. the wax is thin and goes on easily. it is very nourishing to the wood. we use the dark on our walnut and Breton oak pieces.
it is best to wear plastic gloves when polishing with Briwax as it will stain your hands.

Use polyurethane

took a long time to arrive Waxed harwood floors are much more difficult to make look fresh than acrylic or polyurethane floors, in my opinion. ANY water, even damp mop dulls the finish. Only swept or vacuumed leading to a dull, dusty finish within about 1 week. The Briwax company says that the only way to clean is to put more wax on--how convenient (NOT!).

For nearly 30 years, Anchorseal has been the sealer of choice for protection against end grain checking. Lumbermen, turners and furniture builders alike have used Anchorseal for years to protect their wood investment. shipping more than product.

For a 7.00 + can of sealer, the company wants 8.99 to ship it. Go to your local department store or any where else.

Fast application, good protection

I purchased two cans of this sealer, and used it on my 17-year old Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight 2 ultralight tent. This tent has motorcycle toured western Europe and seen a lot of use.

I set it up with fly in the yard, and did the fly seams, then the fly fabric. After the fly dried I hung it over a clothesline and did the seams inside and out of the tent. And then put the fly back on for it all to dry.

About 4 hours later, we got a thunderstorm. The rain just beaded up and ran off the fly, like water off a duck's back. This stuff is great !

Great stuff

Used it on my tent seams. The next day it rained like hell and not a drop was seen inside the tent.

Good Product, Bad Vendor

If you are military and are overseas DO NOT order from this vendor!!! Even though they shipped the package from NJ to NY and there part was over...they still charged me an international shipping rate. The total cost of the items I ordered ended up being roughly $14 and they ended up charging me over $20 for shipping. This is all after I had placed a multiple item order where the "Amazon shipping cost" was free. Now I have never had problems when I have received items directly from an Amazon warehouse, but certain vendors need to get on board with the program. Always double check the separate vendor shipping costs to see if they are being shady or just plane to lazy to do it the right way.

Works great but do not apply indoors!

When this product says "use in a well-ventilated area", they aren't kidding. DO NOT apply this indoors, no matter how good you think your bathroom/workroom/etc is ventilated. Take it outside and make sure it is NOT a windy day. Use a sponge to help spread it around (you will not be able to use the sponge for anything else after).

Questions & Answers
Question : Do block sealers work in diesel engines?
I've heard of fiberglass sealers or even eggs can seal your head gasket leaks temporarily, has anyone used them successfully?

Answer:
they make a special water glass type block sealer that works sometimes but i cant remember the brand name try asking around a large auto parts store. if you try it make sure you remember to shut off the water control valve to your heater because it will stop up your heater core

Question : How good R the AC sealers, do they work ?
I see so many out there with oil, sealer, and leak detector. Any one can tell me a good one ? or they all do the job ? thanks

Answer:
They may or may not work. The best way is to just go ahead and replace the seal, and not have to worry about it anymore. good luck.

Question : ever tried one of those euro sealers?
i bought one the other day because i thought it'd be good to seal bags i was putting xmas goodies in... but the damn thing wont work! what am i doing wrong? i hold it down for 3 seconds, or longer.. and slide it along... and NOTHING bloody happens. i even took out the new batteries and put different new ones in... blah! should i just take it back where i got it and try exchanging it? or do these things really NOT work.

Answer:
I have had no problems with my sealer - you may want to contact the manufacturer with questions or return it and get a replacement.

Question : How can I stop my oil pan plug from leaking by. I have tried different plugs, sealers, and gaskets.?
First time I had trouble was after serviced at Walmart a few years back. It started as a slow drip. Now no matter what I try drips even more.

Answer:
maybe try putting 2 passes of teflon tape over the threads. don't put the tape on backwards. you'll know if you put it on backwards when you screw it in.

Question : Are the paint on roof sealers any good for flat felt roofs?
I am building a music studio in my garage and have found a leak at the far end of the ceiling. I have been on the roof and the felt is in good condition and I can't seem to locate where the water is getting in. I am thinking of buying the paint on roof coating (with fibres) and covering the whole roof. Any one know if this is worthwhile??

Answer:
The best way to locate a roof leak is to step around the seams after it rains..Suspect areas where puddles are sitting and look for air bubbles in the water when you step on the seems...A bit of Karnack and some mesh tape should fix it.....Depending on the overall condition of the roofing a coating may or may not solve the problem.

Question : Does these engine sealers work for leaking freeze plugs?
My back freeze plug is leaking and I know it's an expensive job. They gotta pull out the trannie and stuff. Someone told me about these sealers. True?

Answer:
it all depends on how bad the leak is you can buy the best stuff out there but if its to much then downth thy trany shallth cometh

Question : Are there any sealers I could use on hardwood to cover cat urine smell?
I don't want to use Kilz b/c it is white.

Answer:
Hardwood is a pretty easy-to-hurt material. I would not experiment too much. There is a dry cleaning product (Urine Out) that may work. It worked for me on carpet. You can check the web bellow for more information.

Question : asfault sealers from a company called SealMaster?
They are a company that provides sealer for driveways but in large quanitities. You can also buy the tools nessary to put the product down with aka brooms spreaders.

Answer:
I used to seal blacktop for a living. Depending on the size of the job, you may be better off buying buckets of the sealer at Home Depot and the tools as well. It's a very easy project. Seal larger cracks first with crack-sealer. It is not the same as the stuff in buckets. Having a crew do the job is way overpriced, and the result is no different thanDIY if you're careful. You don't need those guys!!

Question : A/C Leak Sealers, does any body know if they work?
First, I know its still winter, but I'm bored... My A/C system sprong a leak last summer. Hoses look pretty good for a 15 year old car, they were probably replaced sometime before I got the car. I am thinking there is a leak in one of the many o-rings. System held charge for about 3 hours before compressor disengaged, so I am pretty sure it is a small leak. Anyways, any one know if A/C leak sealers work and hold for long?

Answer:
If it quit after 3 hours, this is not a small leak and this stuff won't do a thing for you. I know of three guys who all had slower leaks from what you describe and all wasted their time and money with these products since everything leaked out anyways. There is no magic in a bottle unfortunately, get a proper diagnostic and price to fix system if you really want your A/C working, but be prepared it's never a cheap repair.

Question : How effective are aftermarket headlight sealers in deflecting UV rays?
After market headlight cleaning kits remove the factory UV coating on the headlight lens. These cleaning kits sometimes offer a sealer to replace the damaged coating but do they work?

Answer:
They last anywhere from a month to three months before they begin to peel and yellow.I do not know of anyone of them that actually advertises UV protection in their sealers. I doubt that polyurethane or acrylic floor finish has UV protection. The water based acrylic will not yellow as quickly or as darkly as the oil based polyurethane sealers but it is not as durable.Best to avoid using any cleaning method that will damage or remove the factory seal.
