I was sorry I bought this regulator

I got this regulator to help me with the pressure of my airline for my paint gun. I attached quick disconnects to each end and I thought I was ready to go.

The second I hooked it up to my airline, I heard air escaping. I thought maybe I need to tighten the quick disconnects I just put on. I was suprised to learn that the air was escaping from around the air flow adjustment knob. So I turned the knob and the air stopped escaping. I thought the problem was solved - however, it was only delayed because the second I plugged anything into the regulator, it would leak from this same spot.

Even if an air leak was acceptable, I still couldn't get any change from the pressure gauge when adjusting the knob. So I plugged in my paint gun and then the pressure dropped (I guess the regulator was now in effect). The second that the paint gun was stopped, the pressure on the gauge would rise back to the line pressure. So you can only set the pressure with something connected to the regulator AND air flowing.

So, even if an air leak was acceptable AND something must be connected and running to set the pressure, I was unable to set the pressure to anything stable. The knob connects to a internal bar with a hole through it - so the knob at setting 0 degrees doesn't let any air through, and the setting at 90 degrees lets all air through. Anyone that has worked with air knows you don't need much flow, so even a setting of 5 degrees is about the same as a setting of 90 degrees. So the knob is basically worthless, and fine adjustments are impossible - if there is any change in airflow, line pressure, or you sneeze - the pressure down stream of this regulator will change.

If you want similar performance - save your money and use a clamp on your air line hose - you'll have better performance, repeatability, and less air loss. Don't buy this regulator - it's not worth anything. I'm removing the guage to use on a REAL pressure guage that I have - the rest is junk.
