Outdoor lighting transformer/timer

This unit is exactly like the original that came with the lighting we purchased in 1992. Hooking it up was merely attaching two wires and plugging it in. Great price too.

Malibu transformer

The transformer replaced the original that lasted about 6 years and was used every day. I look forward to the same service from this one as it is identical. It took forever to get here but the bargin price made it worth the wait. Amazon.com are good folks to do business with.

Defective

The particular one that I received was defective. The timer clock would not run. Fortunately, I received a prompt refund.

Transformer Review

Installed product a few weeks ago, and it has worked flawlessly since then. I did add an optional electric eye for $13.00. A little steeper than some others, but I knew this one worked well from a previous install.

Adequate replacement

I was needing an acceptable replacement for my Toro low voltage transformer which is no longer available. After checking several Internet sources I determined that the Intermatic probably would work the best. It is quite a bit larger than the Toro original and comes with instructions that are not as clear as they could be, but all in all an acceptable alternative and seems to be working as I had hoped.

Question : how to prepare for a power outage during an ice storm
A few towns and cities near my own are getting power outages from this ice storm and I was just wondering what I needed to prepare in case this happens to me within the next few hours. So far, I have two flashlights, one lantern, and 107 candles for light and tons of wood for the fire place. I also have extra batteries, three lighters, and a pack of matches for the candles and fireplace. As for food, when the power goes out, so does the fridge. We do have bread, peanut butter, jelly, fluff, cereals and snack foods. We also have some canned fruit and some canned soups that I suppose if worst comes to worst we can cook over the fire.We have tons of blankets and are all keeping our phones on the charger until the last possible second. Am I missing anything Is there anything else I should be prepared for The news said to expect power outages to continue for several days. Thanks for any help (:P.S. I do know that this has nothing to do with pregnancy but I simply put this question within this category because there always seems to be more people answering questions here.

Answer:
Make sure your car has plenty of gas in case the station closes due to outage. I also pick up that de-ice spray so I can scrap my windshield off easier. When preparing for an ice storm I always make stew or chili. It can be stored on the porch to keep cold and I use a pan in the fire to heat it up for a good warm meal. If your fridge goes out you can still keep a few items on the back porch to keep them cold. Also think about picking up paper plates and plastic silverware in case your pipes freeze over, you won't have much dishes to do. That being said you may want to pick up bottled water for drinking and such if your pipes are frozen.I hope that helps, good luck, I hope you don't loose power
